George Frideric Handel

George Frideric Handel(1685-1759), born in Halle, Germany; died in London, England; studied music early and enrolled at the University of Halle; served as organist at the Calvinist Cathedral; went to Italy(Florence, Rome, Venice) and continue to study composing sacred music and Italian operas. In 1710 he went to Hannover, Dusseldorf; then in 1719 he went to London and settled there until his death. He composed more than 40 operas, sacred music(Oratorios); instrumental music includes - concerti grossi, grand concertos, overtures, suites(Water music, the Royal Fireworks), chamber music etc.
